Most everyone knows that cowhide is a solid, dependable, comfortable staple in the glove industry. It is also naturally heat and abrasion resistant, with good durability and breathability, which makes it an excellent general welding glove. Welding gloves are generally made from the premium split cut of the leather to maintain the best durability and comfort. Some welding gloves combine split grain with top grain cowhide in order to provide the best dexterity and the best protection, like West Chester’s Style 6010 (S-XL) Heavyweight Top Grain Cowhide MIG Welding Glove. Driver’s gloves are usually made from the grain leather, which comes from the top of the cowhide and is a finer leather; it remains much more pliable than the other parts of the cowhide. An example of this would be West Chester’s Style 990I Driver’s style glove with a straight thumb, or Style 995K Standard Grain Cowhide glove with a keystone thumb (both in S-2XL).
